Sadly, the Clos St.-Denis is merely an exceptional wine. In the company of such treasures as the Chambertin and Latricieres-Chambertin, all I could muster in my tasting notes was "dark ruby, great wine, explosive richness, heady, and splendid." The vines for Clos St.-Denis were planted in 1925, making it a true cuvee Vieilles Vignes. This wine will drink well and last until 1995-2000.
