The 2015 Barolo Bussia Cicala is like a little steam train that keeps pushing forward. The wine shows the forward momentum and power of the vintage, imparting ripe and rich primary intensity along the way. This steady and elegant expression of Nebbiolo reveals dried blackberry, tar, licorice, smoke and white truffle. The wine's approach is broad and textured as it rolls over the palate. Some 6,000 bottles were produced.

Feels a bit overripe, showing cooked plum, leather, licorice, sandalwood, toasty and vanilla flavors. The tannins are gruff, though overall the balance leans to the dry side. Delivers fine length, with a graphite note emerging on the mouthwatering aftertaste.
