This is one of the few great Soutards that can be said to have reached full maturity. The huge bouquet of roasted cassis, grilled nuts, and smoky oak also has a touch of volatile acidity that adds rather than detracts from its appeal. In the mouth, it has a voluptuous, full-bodied, opulent texture, gobs of fruit, and plenty of alcohol in its heady finish. This is a dense, old-styled, superbly concentrated wine that should continue to drink well for another 10-15 or more years. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 3/90.
