The 1982 is an old-style St.-Emilion made to last and last. It belongs with enthusiasts who have the patience to lay it away for a decade or more. The 1982 is typically huge, backward, almost abrasively tannic. However, this wine--which is now quite closed--has a broodingly dark color and excellent richness, ripeness, and weight on the palate, and will no doubt receive a higher score circa 2000, but it is brutally tannic now. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025. Last tasted, 3/89.
