One can not say enough about the work of young Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who also produces the wines at Chambrun (Lalande-de-Pomerol) and La Croix St.-Georges (Pomerol). La Confession is a tiny garagiste operation consisting of 7 acres of vines planted in clay and sand. The vineyard composition is 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. An outstanding offering, the 2003 La Confession boasts a dark ruby/purple color in addition to superb aromas of white chocolate, espresso roast, black cherries, blackberries, and smoke. Highly-extracted, rich, and fleshy, with sweet tannin, it is a long, concentrated, very full-bodied wine that is impressively endowed. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020+.
