The Cascina Adelaide 2016 Barolo Cannubi opens to wild rose, blue flower, candied orange skin and forest berry. The bouquet is generous with red fruits and flowers, but you also get some pretty tones of ash, smoke and powdered licorice. Some of the single-vineyard Baroli from this estate, such as this particular 4,500-bottle cru, show better and more careful tannic management than the two blended Baroli. In fact, the tannins on this Cannubi are reasonably mild and soft.

A dense, linear profile sets the stage for macerated cherry and raspberry fruit, leather, iron, menthol and tobacco flavors. It expands on the long finish, flexing some muscle and tannins.
