The Finca del Marquesado line seems to be more fruit-forward and modern than the Conde de Valdemar line, and it starts with the 2010 Finca del Marquesado Crianza and continues with the predictable Reserva and Gran Reserva. Here the differences, other than the growing seasons, seem to be the time in oak as these are high-volume brands. Despite the fact that they are not a single-vineyard wines and in fact admit to blending grapes from the three Rioja subzones, this has nice, ripe fruit and balanced aromas with a soft palate, clean fruit flavors and sweet tannins. It is a crowd-pleaser. Very good for what it is and its price. 110,000 bottles.
