To be honest, I was expecting more from Warre's 1945 Vintage Port, although it was following the immortal Taylor's and Graham 1945s! This bottle still had its original label and was shipped by Warre's themselves. It is clearly lighter in color than those two Ports, the nose slightly muddled at first, with hints of Seville Orange marmalade, wilted flowers in an antique vase. The palate shows a touch of dryness on the entry, although there is appreciable depth. It feels quite conservative, perhaps a touch of dustiness toward the finish that slinks away prematurely. It's not a bad Vintage Port for sure, but I suspect there are better bottlings out there.Tasted May 2015.
