The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is a solid, workhorse-style blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 10% Cinsault that was brought up mostly in tank. Olive tapenade, licorice, roasted herbs and plenty of sweet black cherry fruit emerge from this medium-bodied, supple, balanced and ripe 2005. It’s drinking at point, but should hold nicely for 3-4 years.
