The 2010 Corton La Vigne Au Saint bursts from the glass with a heady array of dark red fruit, crushed flowers and licorice. It shows tons of complexity and sheer nuance. The wine gains volume and textural depth with air as it fleshes out on the palate. Menthol and eucalyptus are some of the notes that are woven into the hugely satisfying finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022.
Domaine des Croix is just around the corner from Camille Giroud, where winemaker David Croix is also in charge. The Domaine des Croix wines are typically made in a forward, fruit-driven style. Although the wines can age, my preference is to drink them on the young side. In 2010, yields came in around 20-25 hectoliters, very low by any measure. I tasted most of the 2010s from barrel, except as noted.
