The real crowd-pleaser is the 2010 Argirio that definitely shows the highest degree of focus and elegance. A firm line of bright berry fruit, pipe tobacco and brimstone cuts straight thought the wine-s fleshy, pulpy fruit. What distinguishes the wine however, is the understated and linear quality of the mouthfeel. It tastes opulent without being overripe or chewy. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.
Located near the sleepy village of Palazzone in San Casciano dei Bagni in Siena province, Podernuovo al Palazzone is the new property recently inaugurated by father and son team Paolo and Giovanni Bulgari, heir to the jewelry empire. The 2009 vintage marks this estate-s debut.
Importer: Maisons Marques & Domaines USA; www.mmdusa.net The first two wines are imported to the United States, but the Argirio is not.
