So much of the Valpolicella found in American wine shops is from industrial-sized giants that turn out such diluted, soul-less wines that few consumers are likely to find any pleasure in them. This is the real thing! At its best, Valpolicella should be an exuberant, richly fruity, velvety textured wine that is vibrant and lively. This example from Le Salette is all that and more. There is good fruit, it is a delight to drink, and the wine exhibits personality. Consume it over the next year. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA.
