As evidenced by their excellent 1988, 1989, and blockbuster, rich, monumental 1990, this chateau is on a hot streak. This micro estate's (less than 2,000 cases) 1992 is a standout effort among an undistinguished group of St.-Emilion premier grand cru classes. The wine exhibits a deep, dark, opaque ruby/purple color, and a heady bouquet of ripe black-cherry fruit intermingled with scents of minerals, flowers, earth, and new oak. Surprisingly dense, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and noticeably tannic, this is a powerful, rich, ageworthy 1992 that needs 3-4 years to shed its tannin. It will last for 10-15 years. It is one of the most backward wines of the 1992 vintage, offering further evidence that Beausejour-Duffau is producing one of Bordeaux's finest wines.
