Here is an exciting look back in time. It's truly amazing that the Umani Ronchi 1997 Pelago has held up so beautifully, and I cannot help but be in awe of this wine. A blend of Montepulciano and other international grapes, this back vintage reveals a good dose of medicinal herb, mint and tea leaf, which gives vertical intensity to the bouquet. But there is a sweet side that underlines the wine's mature fruit. This surprising wine was tasted from the library collection at the estate.
