The 2001 Barbera d’Alba Vigneto della Chiesa, very dark in color, competes well with the best wines of the appellation. The jammy nose of plums, tar, cloves, and charcoal is followed by a plummy and chocolatey palate, round, sweet and refreshed by the tonic acidity of the close. Drink: 2005-2009.
