The 2009 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Morino reveals good nuance and polish at this level, along with an attractive, layered expression of fruit. This mid-weight Montepulciano is best enjoyed while the fruit remains fresh. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. This is a solid set of wines from Barba. The 2008 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colle Morino is deeper, darker and richer than the Vasari in its super-ripe, jammy fruit. Stylistically, the Colle Marino relies on juiciness rather than on aromatics or finesse. It is an enjoyable wine to drink over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
