Organically grown and made with no added preservatives, the 2021 Puritan Shiraz is highly aromatic. There are lashings of Damson plums, fennel flowers, violets, red table grapes and raspberry pip. In the mouth, the wine is spicy, angular and herbal, with a throb of sappy red fruit through the middle of it all. Stylized, good.

The 2019 Puritan Shiraz even meets U.S. certification standards for organic wine, as there were no sulfites added. Like the preceding vintage, it offers a vivid immediacy on the nose that's largely unmatched by sulfured cuvées, delivering scents of cracked pepper, violets, licorice and blue and blackberries. Medium-bodied and crisp, there's a bit of edginess to the feel on the palate, although the tannins are ripe and supple and the finish long and harmonious. Good, unoaked fun in a glass, and it should drink well for at least a few years, assuming proper storage.

Certified organic and preservative-free (the wine name refers to the no-additions policy regarding this wine), the 2018 Puritan Shiraz is dark purple and fully saturated in color, but floral and aromatic on the nose, offering hints of violets, potpourri and mulberries. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, supple and elegant in feel, with a lingering finish and some gentle, dusty tannins that approximate cocoa powder in feel. And no, there's no oak used in this wine either. If only all so-called natural wines could be this pure and expressive.

With no added preservative (SO2), the deep garnet-purple 2014 Puritan Shiraz has a lifted, pretty and very expressive nose of crushed blueberries, blackberries and black cherries plus black pepper and violet notes. Full-bodied, concentrated and youthful with a vibrant and soft palate framed by velvety tannins and long finish.

As I had initially tasted this wine very soon after bottling, I re-tasted it again recently to give it another chance to improve with a little time in bottle. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Puritan Shiraz is certified organic with no added preservatives. On the nose it shows notes of burnt rubber to begin, then gives way with swirling to an appealing core of fresh blackberries and blueberries with a hint of black earth. Medium to full-bodied with a nice vibrancy of freshly crushed berry flavors in the mouth, it has a low level of rounded tannins and lively acid before it finishes with good length.
