The red 2021 Mestizaje Tinto was produced with a blend of 75% Bobal, 15% Garnacha and 10% Syrah. It has 13.5% alcohol and kept good balance and freshness. It matured in a combination of oak vats and barriques for one year. It's quite classical, serious, balanced and fresh, with a certain complexity, Mediterranean with elegance. 98,926 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2023.

I also tasted the red 2020 Mestizaje, a blend of Bobal with 16% Garnacha and 14% Syrah with 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.56 with 5.65 grams of acidity (tartaric) from their vines in Terrrerazo at 800 meters in altitude. It fermented in French oak and stainless steel and matured in a combination of 225- and 500-liter oak barrels and oak vats for 10 months. It's primary and immediate without the depth and complexity of the 2019 but really pleasant and with a tender, velvety palate with some chalky tannins and a tasty finish. 92,980 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2022.

The blend of the 2019 Mestizaje, which varies from vintage to vintage, is 73% Bobal, 15% Garnacha and 12% Syrah. It has moderate 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.58 with 5.7 grams of acidity (tartaric). It fermented in a combination of French oak and stainless steel vats and matured in 225- and 500-liter oak barrels and oak vats for 10 months. It's a spectacular red, with finesse and length, good complexity and perfectly integrated oak, very serious, with chalky and polished tannins. 91,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2021.

The red 2018 Mestizaje was produced with a blend of 70% Bobal, 19% Garnacha and 11% full-cluster Syrah from head-pruned and dry-farmed vines from their El Terrerazo estate planted mostly in the early 1990s on limestone soils. Each plot and grape variety was fermented separately with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and oak vats. It matured in a mixture of oak vats and French barrique for 11 months (there has been a change toward more and more vats and almost no barrels). This has a creamy touch, attractive, approachable and easy to understand, with some spiciness and a round palate. The tannins are fine and the wine comes through as neatly balanced with good freshness. 94,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2019.

The red 2017 Mestizaje is a blend of all the varieties they work with—in this case, 74% Bobal, 16% Garnacha and 10% Syrah from head-pruned and dry-farmed vines. Each plot and variety fermented separately with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and/or oak vats, and the élevage was in a mixture of oak vats and French barrique and lasted ten months. It felt very harmonious, subtle and elegant. I think there has been a change in the wine since they started removing the French grapes and using larger oak containers. It respects the Mediterranean character of the grapes and the place. 97,420 bottles were filled in November 2018.
