Tasted from barrel, the 2020 Cornas Chante Perdrix is typical for the cuvée, quite forward and soft, with lush raspberry and red plum notes. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky textured and lingers elegantly on the finish.

The full-bodied 2019 Cornas Chante Perdrix is atypically powerful and intense, yet it still retains the cuvée's essentially approachable character. Supple and fleshy, loaded with red plum, cassis and blackberry fruit, it finishes long, with hints of thyme. Drink it over the next 15 years. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Strong showing (tasted blind) for the 2018 Cornas Chante Perdrix, which comes from two parcels of vines—purchased fruit from mid-slope and estate fruit from the top of the appellation. A bit herbal and peppery, it also boasts ample blueberry fruit on the full-bodied palate. It's creamy and supple, with just a slight bitter edge on the finish that should be resolved by the time it goes into bottle.

As usual, the Delas Cornas is an elegant rendering of the appellation. The 2017 Cornas Chante Perdrix hints at violets and raspberries on the nose, then delivers more of the same on the medium to full-bodied palate. It's silky and fine in texture, not a big, meaty style, but it still delivers plenty of pleasure. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

The 2016 Cornas Chante Perdrix starts off a little tarry, but it quickly shapes up in the glass to reveal grilled meat and red plum aromas. It's medium to full-bodied, with an open-knit texture and a long, peppery and crisp finish. It should drink well for a decade or so.
