The Grenache-based 2018 Ditch Digger is blended with 20% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah and 5% splashes of Cinsault, Counoise and Graciano. The nose is deep and nuanced, with red and black fruits accented by notes of white pepper, exotic spice, tea leaves and blood orange. It offers impressive depth of fruit on the palate, which is medium-bodied, finely grained and juicy, and it finishes with tremendous spice. It deserves another 2-3 years in the cellar. 1,036 cases produced.

The 2017 Ditch Digger is made up of 55% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 5% Graciano and 2% Carignan. Medium ruby, it has bright, inviting scents of raspberries and red cherries layered with scents of powdered sugar, citrus peel, violet and lilac perfume with an earthy undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is ultra layered and perfumed, with a pleasantly chalky frame and fantastic juiciness, finishing very long and fragrant. Lovely!

A Grenache-based blend, the 2015 Ditch Digger is lovely, wafting from the glass with an expressive nose of dried flowers, wild berry fruit and orange rind. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and succulent, with a generous core of fruit, decent freshness and fine-grained tannins that make their presence felt on the finish. Given it a year or two in the cellar and then follow it for 6 or 7 more.

Up with some of my favorite wines from winemaker Anthony Yount, the 2014 The Ditch Digger Denner Vineyard is a sensational blend of 60% Grenache, 15% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, and the balance Counoise and Cinsault. It offers a polished, elegant, yet full-bodied and textured style to go with killer purity in its sweet black raspberry and black currant fruit, dried herbs and pepper aromas and flavors. The purity here is truly fabulous and this is up with the top GSM blends coming out of California. Drink it any time over the coming decade.

The estate's Southern Rhone-inspired cuvee, the 2013 The Ditch Digger Denner Vineyard is 50% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 10% Counoise and 5% Cinsault the was brought up in 60% old barrels and 40% in cement tanks. Ripe, voluptuous, full-bodied and low in acidity, it offers terrific notes of raspberry, blackberries, herbes de Provence, pepper and garrigue. Downright sexy and already hard to resist, drink this beauty anytime over the coming 7-8 years.
