The medium-bodied, cherry-scented 2020 Crozes Hermitage is a simple, fruity quaffer meant to be enjoyed young. It's gently extracted, with modest, silky tannins giving just a bit of shape to the finish.

Pradelle's 2019 Crozes Hermitage kicks off with scents of licorice, violets and cassis. Full-bodied and concentrated, there are some slightly drying tannins but just enough at this stage to impart structure and give a savory edge to the bold fruit. I'd drink it on the young side with grilled beef or lamb.

The 2018 Crozes Hermitage features characteristic herbal-smoky Syrah aromas, plus hints of mocha and cassis. It's medium to full-bodied, with a silky feel and a crisp, dry finish.

The 2017 Crozes Hermitage features a lifted note and hints of clove on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, with some pleasant cherry fruit but also dusty, drying tannins and an astringent finish. Drink it young, before the fruit fades.

Pradelle's entry-level Crozes, the medium to full-bodied 2016 Crozes Hermitage, has some odd wintergreen aromas but follows them up with supple tannins, a creamy mouthfeel and attractive hints of mocha on the finish. It aged entirely in demi-muids and foudres.
