Produced since 2004 as Etude's first single-vineyard Pinot Noir, the 2019 Pinot Noir Deer Camp Vineyard is mainly Martini selection, grown on a southwest-facing slope of the Grace Benoist Ranch. Cool, enthralling hints of crushed stone accent black cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is supple and plush, big yet cuddly, with a touch of mocha on the lingering, silky finish.

Aged for 12 months in French oak, 25% new, the 2018 Pinot Noir Deer Camp Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and leaps from the glass with intense fragrant earth, fallen leaves and tilled soil scents over a core of black raspberries, pomegranate and violets with a waft of baker's chocolate. The medium-bodied palate offers a solid structure of finely grained tannins with bold freshness lifting all those earth-laced red berry layers to a long finish. Interestingly, this wine is made almost entirely from Martini clone—just one of the fascinating heritage clones from around these parts. 565 cases were made.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Deer Camp Vineyard is composed mainly of Martini clone selection. Medium ruby-purple colored, it comes charging out of the gate with bold notes of black raspberries, boysenberries and rhubarb pie plus suggestions of tobacco leaf, sassafras and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a commendably sturdy structure of firm tannins and oodles of freshness, lifting the generous earth-laced fruit to a long finish. 334 cases were made.

Sourced from the Etude estate vineyard Grace Benoist Ranch and aged for 14 months in 25% new French oak, the 2016 Pinot Noir Deer Camp Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and gives up tons of floral and herbs notes of lilacs, rose hip tea and wild thyme over a core of kirsch, cranberry pie and boysenberry with a waft of crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, the palate is generous and beautifully plush with tons of layers and great persistence. 479 cases produced.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Deer Camp Vineyard offers a beautifully earthy nose of forest floor, mossy bark and truffles with a core of black cherries, mulberries and red currants, plus wafts of sandalwood and charcoal. Medium-bodied and elegantly crafted with fine, grainy tannins and a lively backbone, it has excellent persistence.
