The 2006 Barolo Gattera sweeps across the palate with a round, harmonious expression of fruit that is typical from this vineyard, one of La Morra’s warmer microclimates. The wine turns more floral and perfumed in the glass as it puts on additional weight, yet without becoming excessively heavy. Here, too, the finish is exceptionally pure and elegant, with a leitmotif of perfumed, floral red fruits that lingers on the close. The Gattera is made from two parcels at opposite ends of the vineyard, and is the only single-vineyard Barolo Revello ages in medium-size oak. The results over the last few years have been nothing less than striking. The Gattera is the most forward and approachable of Revello’s 2006 Barolos. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. Brothers Enzo and Carlo Revello have turned out a strong set of 2006 Barolos. Revello has dropped the percentage of new oak to 50% for their single-vineyard Barolos, with the exception of the Gattera, which is aged in a single 15-hectoliter barrel.A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including: de Grazia Imports; tel.
