The organic 2021 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is an excellent value wine with 35,000 bottles released. The wine is all Sangiovese sourced from three sites in Castellina, Panzano and Badia a Passignano. The wine delivers a dark ruby color, and although the aromatic intensity is measured, there are delicately perfumed tones of cherry, raspberry and blood orange that feel punchy and bright. You also get pretty floral tones.

The entry-level Gagliole 2019 Chianti Classico Rubiolo represents a blend of organic Sangiovese from Castellina and Panzano made at the new high-tech winery in Panzano. This is an informal and fun wine with an especially crunchy character that is enhanced by bold primary fruit and freshness. Aromas include rose, bright cherry, blue flower and toasted almond. It is fermented in steel and racked into both oak and cement for finishing. You get outstanding value with this bottle.

One of the best value wines in Tuscany, the 2018 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a lovely Sangiovese with most of its fruit sourced from the estate's Panzano property and some from Castellina. In fact, this is one of a handful of wineries in the appellation that purposefully blends fruit from different townships. The wine is delicate and fresh with plenty of wild cherry and blue flower. It falls lightly onto the palate with silky, featherweight intensity. I would enjoy it with a porcini sauce on pasta.

The 2017 Chianti Classico Rubiolo (100% Sangiovese) shows a delicately spicy side to the bouquet with cherry and blackberry that is nicely ripened but not overripe. This is an extremely balanced and precise wine. I can't image that these results were easy to achieve given the harsh, hot and dry conditions of the growing season. The finish is soft and velvety. Pair this with a rabbit dish. With 47,000 bottles made, you get fantastic value here.
