Toasty and inviting, the 2009 Colli Orientali del Friuli Picolit shows a deep amber color with brilliant golden highlights. Thanks to 12 months in oak, this expression of Picolit delivers loads of spice, honey, candied orange peel and toasted chestnut. This is a different interpretation of the grape that embraces a bolder, bigger style. It would pair with Sicilian desserts and sweet ricotta. Drink: 2014-2019.
Alessio Dorigo took over winemaking from his father Girolamo in 2012. He makes a long list of traditional wines plus two cheerful sparkling wines based on Chardonnay and Pinot Nero that I did not include here.
