The Moppa and the Greenock Shiraz were tasted side by side, each an interpretation of the two different areas within the Barossa. This 2020 Moppa Shiraz is redder, lighter and brighter, with a skein of very fine, red earth tannins that course through the fruit. While both are classily constructed, this has a little inclusion of Petit Verdot and Viognier, no doubt each contributing to the floral lift, structure and life of the wine. Very good.

Nicely balanced between fresh and ripe fruit flavors of plum and blackberry, offering black tea, pepper and minerally details that lend appealing tension. The 2016 Moppa Shiraz includes bits of Petit Verdot and Viognier and was aged 13 months in predominantly French oak hogsheads (25% new). It's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety mouthfeel and attractive notes of mocha, baking spices and bright cherry fruit. The ripe, softly dusty finish suggests there's enough stuffing for it to drink well over the next 6-7 years.
