Smells of subtle fruit and flowers with cedar and sandalwood. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh and fruity finish. All about lovely, perfectly ripe fruit with a citrus flower undertone. Drinkable now but better in two or three years. Try after 2025.

A serious Brunello showing excellent depth of savoriness, cranberries, minerals, dried orange peel and a hint of currant. Tense and transparent on the mid-palate, showing good weight and verticality with bright acidity and dusty tannins. Drink or hold.

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Lago shows warm aromas of dark cherry and plum. The wine presents a broad and rich texture, but it lacks the depth and fruit clarity that we might expect in cooler conditions. It has very accessible fruit with an open texture that is best suited to near-term drinking. Fruit is sourced from a lower and presumably warmer site at 280 meters above sea level. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

This starts out with pronounced iron and graphite aromas and flavors, wrapped around a beam of black cherry and black currant fruit.
