The 2019 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard, from fruit farmed by Tom Rochioli, offers stunning amplitude and intensity. Scented of Meyer lemon, crushed almonds, beeswax, wet stone and spring butter, the medium-bodied palate expands from bright citrus to honeyed stone fruits as it coats the mouth with its satiny texture. It has refreshing, tangy acidity, and its flavor intensity continues to build across the tremendously long finish. Wow!

The 2018 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard has delicate aromas of cheese rind, flint, white blossoms, beeswax and pears. The palate is light-bodied and mineral-driven with tangy acidity and a long, juicy finish. This could use another year or two in bottle.

The 2017 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard is youthfully restrained, slowly giving up wet stone, lemon pith, baker's yeast, floral touches and fresh apple and pear notes with twinges of cream, nuts and stone fruit hints. The palate is medium-bodied and rounded and with oodles of savory-laced fruits lifted by juicy acidity on the very long, textured finish. 237 cases produced.

From 20-year-old Wente clones, the 2016 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard is very giving on the nose, offering quince paste, apricot, white pepper and pineapple notions with cheese rind, crème fra?che, lemon confit, honey-drizzled almonds and white flowers. Light to medium-bodied, it's minerally to begin, fleshing out to savory layers, lifted by juicy acidity and finishing insanely long and textured. 196 cases were made.

The 2013 Chardonnay Allen Vineyard exhibits notes of orange blossom, honeysuckle, white peach and crushed rock in a full-bodied, beautifully fresh, lively, concentrated style. This is another super Chardonnay to drink over the next 4-6 years.
