Still in barrel, the 2012 Saint Peray Cuvee Prestige checks in as a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne that’s aged, like the straight Roussanne, in neutral, smaller barrels and oak tanks (cuve tronconique). More than a little impressive, with knockout white peach, hints of freshly sliced apricots and distinct minerality, this beauty is supple, textured and yet elegant and focused. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.
Proprietor Stephane Robert is knocking it out of the park from his tiny cellar located in Saint Peray. Producing up to three Cornas in any given vintage, he also releases four whites from Saint Peray and a serious Saint Joseph.
