Probably my favorite Grenache from McPrice to date, the 2012 Grenache L'Ange is 100% Grenache and spent 16 months in 20% new French oak. It offers beautiful kirsch, pepper and spice-box-like qualities to go with medium to full-bodied richness, a great mid-palate and a structured, tight profile that needs another year or so in the cellar. It's a rock star Grenache from Paso that will drink well through 2022.
McPrice Myers continues to churn out outstanding, singular and age-worthy wines under his McPrice Myers label. Both of his late release 2011s showed beautifully, and the 2012s are a step up. The 2012s buck the vintage stereotype and have enough tannin and concentration to warrant short-term cellaring. In addition, these efforts always have a savory, structured style that should appeal to both Old and New World wine lovers.
