St. Innocent's two outstanding Pinot Noirs are worth a special effort to find. The 1992 Pinot Noir Seven Springs Vineyard exhibits an impressively saturated dark ruby/purple color. It is more tightly knit and backward aromatically than the 1992 Pinot Noir O'Connor Vineyard, but airing reveals scents of peppery, black-cherries, and spicy oak. Full-bodied, with noticeable tannin, this is a rich, generously endowed, concentrated wine that should age well for 7-8 years.
St. Innocent has quickly emerged as one of the stars of Oregon winedom. Kudos to winemaker Mark Vlossak.
