The two Pinot Noirs exhibit complexity and a fine touch. The 1990 Pinot Noir-Seven Springs Vineyard is richer, fuller, and more obviously oaky, with a slightly deeper color than the O'Conner. While the wine reaches the limit of too much wood, there appears to be adequate reserves of fruit to support the wine's structure. The nose offers aromas of black-berries, herbs, and spices. The wine is medium-bodied, with moderate tannins, and excellent concentration. If the oak becomes more subdued and the fruit pushes to the forefront, this wine may deserve an even higher rating.
