Because Poggio Antico did not release a 2014 Brunello di Montalcino this year, fans of this estate will make due with the delightfully easy-drinking and informal 2017 Rosso di Montalcino instead. This entry level Sangiovese opens to a darker and fuller appearance compared to any number of recent cooler vintages. That bright 2017 sunshine is locked within the dark appearance of this wine. Following in theme, the aromas are ripe, round and slightly sweet. This is an exuberant and fruit-forward Rosso. Some 15,000 bottles were made.
