The 1993 Barolo exhibits an evolved light ruby color with amber at the edge. The nose (perhaps this wine's best feature) offers scents of cigar smoke, cedar, spice, and dried cherry fruit. The wine reveals sweetness on the attack, but it quickly becomes compressed and angular. It is a good, aromatic, spice-dominated Barolo for consuming over the next 2-3 years.
A correct, but uninspiring effort, this wine is dry, austere, and tannic, yet complex and pleasant enough to merit a recommendation.
