The oldest rendition of this cuvée that I've tasted, Rapet's 1959 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a rich, textural wine offering up fully mature aromas of honeycomb, dried orchard fruits, confit citrus and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with ripe acids and an ample core of fruit, it gains in tension over an hour in the glass. It's an excellent wine on the downslope of its evolutionary arc.
