The 2008 Malleolus de Valderramiro will be bottled soon. It is slightly lighter in color than the 2009 as well as a bit more structured. It lacks the unctuousness of the 2009 but is nonetheless an outstanding young wine. The Moro family believes that frost in the last week of harvest kept the 2008 vintage from being at the same level as 2009. (Not yet released) Emilio Moro’s Malleolus de Valderramiro is sourced from an 85-year-old Tempranillo vineyard of the same name. Alcoholic fermentation is done with native yeasts after which the wine goes through malolactic in American oak. It is then aged for 18 months in new French oak.
