The 2006 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard is a bit of a puzzle; perhaps I caught it on an off-day. It reveals a restrained, brooding bouquet leading to a wine which is just a bit lacking in generosity and expression. It is quite dense but not as interesting as the other 2006s in the portfolio.
Penner-Ash’s 2006 Pinot Noirs are uniformly top-notch, not a surprise given this husband-wife team’s track record. Not to be over-looked, Penner-Ash also produces excellent Riesling, Viognier, and Syrah.
