The deep crimson-colored 2007 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard reveals toasty barrel notes, a bit of scorched earth, and darker fruit than the Willamette Valley cuvee. On the palate it exhibits layered, savory fruit, good depth and sweetness of fruit. There is enough underlying ripe tannin to support another 2-3 years of bottle age and it will provide optimal drinking from 2011 to 2019.
Penner-Ash performed optimally in the face of the challenges presented by the 2007 vintage. Their 2007 Riesling is reviewed in the Value section of this report and should not be missed.
