Like the Serpentières, the 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Gravains is also somewhat closed, unfurling in the glass to offer up notes of cassis, blood orange and dried flowers, subtly framed by new wood. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with good concentration and balancing acids, but a tight-knit profile that will demand 5 or 6 years of bottle age, preferably a little more.
