The 2003 Ebo (Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) is an accessible, fairly open wine showing ripe dark fruit, earth and tobacco on a medium-bodied frame in a style that is surprisingly restrained given the quality of the vintage, although a lingering note of sweetness on the finish is very much in the style of the 2003 vintage. Its balance, however, is ultimately dominated by a bitter, somewhat astringent finish. Aged in a combination of Slavonian and French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2013.
This young estate is located in Suvereto. Although these aren’t the most complex wines being produced in the region, they are fairly accessible and are sure to provide much pleasure.
