The estate's 2004 Ebo opens with exotic aromas that recall wild herbs, earthiness and autumn leaves. As the wine sits in the glass, layers of ripe dark fruit, licorice, tar, new leather, smoke and black pepper gradually emerge, completing this very beautiful and promising effort. The wine remains tightly wound and should benefit from a few additional years of bottle age. Ebo is Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot aged predominantly in large cask, with a touch of used French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2019.
This is a very solid set of new releases from Petra, a young property in Suvereto.
