My favorite is the blockbuster 2001 Syrah Melville Vineyard, which offers up gorgeously compelling creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, spice box, mineral, and acacia flower aromas as well as flavors. It is dense, pure, and multilayered, with an opulence that provides immediate accessibility. However, there is no doubting that it will stand up to 10-14 years of cellaring.
