Possessing polish and finesse as well as concentration and intensity is the 1999 Granato. There are 2,500 cases of this wine, which spent 18 months in French oak. An opaque purple color is followed by a chewy, black currant, cherry, saddle leather, earth, pepper, and underbrush-scented perfume. This full-bodied, complex, rich, highly-extracted Bordeaux-styled Italian possesses abundant quantities of sweet tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2016.
