The 2009 Ultreia Cova de la Raposa is 100% Mencia sourced from a single 3.3 acre vineyard characterized by sandy soil. It was fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged for 1 year in a French barrique (containing the entire production). Even more exotically perfumed than the Valtuille cuvee, it offers up a kinky concoction of Asian spices, incense, lavender, and an assortment of wild berries. This leads to an already complex, layered, suave offering with deftly concealed tannins that will permit another 2-3 years of graceful evolution. Drink this brilliant Mencia from 2014 to 2024+.
