Deep garnet-purple colored, the Greenock Creek’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of crushed black currants, ripe blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, graphite and black pepper with an earthy undercurrent of tree bark and damp soil. Very full-bodied and rich at 16% declared alcohol, it’s supported by medium-firm fine grained tannins and crisp acid. It has great persistence with an earthy finale and a little lingering heat. It’s approachable now though still very primary and should evolve a few more layers in a year or two, drinking to 2018+. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (805) 782-9095
