This wine (unfiltered) comes from the Sonoma Coast, a hotbed for high quality California Pinot Noir (Marcassin, Kistler, and La Jota are well-established in this area). It possesses medium ruby/garnet color. The wine is reticent aromatically, with dark berry fruit and earth emerging from the glass. However, on the palate there is explosive fruit, more structure, and noticeable tannin. This is a masculine style of Pinot Noir, without much forward charm, yet with much aging potential.
