Displaying intense hazelnut and floral aromatics, the Meursault Sous La Velle offers dazzling sweetness of fruit in its medium-to-full-bodied, rich, ripe, and thick character. Layers of minerals, stones, and racy currants are infused with lemon drops in this lively wine. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2004. In Jobard's opinion, the key to producing great white Burgundies in 1996 was to harvest late, allowing the grapes to produce higher natural sugar levels than were present at the ban de vendange.
