The debut offering of 2001 Condrieu Vertige, from a young vineyard on the famed Coteaux du Vernon made famous by the Vernay family, exhibits more wood in its nose and flavors. Full-bodied, rich, muscular, deep, and chewy as well as tight and backward, it requires some introspection. Yet this wine appears to have the most upside in terms of aging potential. This powerful Condrieu is just now hitting its peak, and should last for 2-3 years, possibly longer.
Cuilleron continues to produce brilliant wines, particularly his dry whites, although his reds get better with each vintage.
