Tasted at the Chambolle Amoureuses vertical in London, the 1961 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses would be one of the earliest vintages released by Drouhin and it has held up well. Faded and slightly oxidized on the nose, it offers wild mushroom and scorched earth aromas. It is on the palate that it shines with tart red fruit on the entry, a touch of volatile acidity affecting the finish, simple and with just a little dryness, yet it has antiquated charm. Don't leave it too long if you stumble across a bottle. Tasted November 2015.
