Tasted at the Chambolle Amoureuses vertical in London, the 1993 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses was absolutely stunning on this occasion, far superior to the example encountered back in 2011. Alas, the first bottle was corked, however the second possessed an exquisite bouquet of red berries, undergrowth, wilted rose petal and a hint of truffle. The palate is refined and graceful, one of the most harmonious in recent years with heart-warming, almost ethereal purity towards the elegant finish. It just purrs with quality and refinement. It is probably at its peak now, though I cannot envisage it declining for a number of years. Tasted November 2015.
